The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) was interested in determining which Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) reports (described in another project) were most viewed by the public.

Jon wrote a Visual Basic 6.0 application to capture that information by processing the HTML reports created by WebTrends, the Agency’s web log analysis tool. WebTrends Report Parser opens a report file, parses it to extract text related to GAIN reports, and then displays the results in a table that can be sorted by various columns. The resulting data is then inserted into a SYBASE database for further processing or later viewing.

An additional form displays the raw HTML of the WebTrends report file undergoing processing.
